Respect of our self

Respect of our self

Accepting ourselves where we are is an extremely challenging feat. Generally speaking we’re willing to compromise to get what we want. The notion of committing to our own personal desires, and not compromising for personal benefit is foreign. It takes a huge amount of bravery, to let go of personal gain, and the comfort we believe to come with it. The little secret is that committing to being ourself yields much better results.  It’s not really even so much a secret, but it is something we don’t allow ourselves to know. We’re too committed to achieving results to commit to being anything. The only thing we commit to is the outcome we desire!

There is so much more bliss in being ourselves. This is the bliss that sustains. Maybe we’re ass holes, we can commit to that too! Maybe we believe firmly in God. We can fully commit to that too! The point is that we too often have lukewarm relationships, and there’s not a lot of intensity in that. We sorta get what we want, we sorta achieve our goals. We should go for them! Go all the way, don’t compromise, don’t settle! Be brave and make the life you want. No one else is going to make this life for you. Stepping up to the plate offers the opportunity, maybe not necessarily to achieve everything we want, but to enjoy the path of trying to do so. So many of us are completely goal oriented that we forget this vertical adage. In all things we could learn to relate to the situation, the situation as the guide, and not put our selfish desires into it. This takes more bravery that most of us have, we’d rather be lukewarm and secure, than risk. Risk period. Sometimes people break this mold. Breaking this mold does not result in much fanfare per-say, but it gives us the ultimate freedom to commit to ourselves, to learn ourselves, and we through experience we can even take pride in ourselves – we learn how to be, with dignity even in challenging situations. What more is there?
