The Weekend
By cyclistmike On April 15, 2013
Did a lot for it being a relaxing weekend, spent time with my parents, who are visiting from Virginia and I did my first triathlon in about a year. There was a time in my life when I wanted to do Triathlons professionally. I took the track that could allow that, I may have forgotten what I wanted to do, I have focused on getting what has been needed, done. So I had a nice friendly reminded yesterday that things I still love; things that help me feel accomplished and challenged are still there.
I did better than last year too. I placed 3rd overall (4th really because they didn’t count their own club member’s results), up ten positions from last year when I did the same race, and placed 13th. So Even though I had ‘forgotten’ my goal I have still been making headway. It feels good to see progress in numbers.
Having things happen is good encouragement for making things happen. Having my parents stay with me was wonderful and their support at the race priceless. I’ve done most of my races on my own, and I don’t mind being lonely but company is nice and enjoying the good connection I have with my parents, gives me a lot more to work with, great ground to work from.
